Abstract

Standing Bodhisattva Maitreya of Early Goryeo Dynasty(918-1170) is a unique icon of Goryeo Buddhist sculpture. Among the presently known 17 examples of this iconography, which are founded close to artery roads, this article focuses on the Stone Standing Bodhisattva Maitreya of Gwanchoksa Temple. The striking feature of this well-known statue is the wearing of stone chattra and samghati.
