Abstract

The dynasties that ruled the present-day Vietnam differed from other South-East Asian states as they used Chinese characters and actively embraced other cultural elements of China. They established administrative system with Confucianism as the national policy, and built royal mausoleums to affirm the legitimacy and authority of the kingdom.
